Who can be a trip organizer?
Anyone can request to be a trip organizer. You must convince the organizer that you are reliable and can organize and host a fun trip.
How do I post a trip?
You start by sending a short proposal to the organizer. Upon approval, you will create and post an event description and close the event to RSVPs. Once approved by the organizer, you can announce the trip to the group and open it for RSVPs.
I am not a travel professional. Can I post trips? Can I make money?
The best trips are often those organized by our members. When making your trip proposal, detail exactly how much, if anything, you expect to make (percentage of payments, kickbacks, comps). In general, all or almost all perks should be passed to our members. However, if you want to receive a *small* amount, or small comp, for your time and energy, then that may be permitted. If your compensation is too great, your trip proposal will not be approved.
I am a travel professional. Can I post trips?
Read this carefully, and keep in mind that at least 95% of commercial solicitations are ignored.
In making a trip proposal, you must tell the organizer exactly how much money you expect to make from the trip. This group is not a general posting site for use by travel professionals. If you want to host a trip with us, you must show our group the largest discounts possible.
The organizer gets a lot of solicitations from travel professionals offering cuts/kickbacks/comps. The organizer wants any of these passed along directly to our members in the form of discounts. If the discount you offer is just nominal, your trip proposal will not be accepted. You have to convince the organizer that your trip is unique and offers a better deal than that found anywhere else.
Finally, any trip posted here must feel like a Meetup event. Fundamentally, this means that there will be a host for the trip who is readily accessible during the entire event to help with introductions and make sure all Meetup members can meet each other and feel comfortable.
Are any trips done for charity?
Trip organizers are free to raise money through the trips for charity. In particular, for the Club Getaway trips, instead of the organizers receiving any cash, Club Getaway donates $50/person to help fight cancer. So in addition to Club Getaway offering great trips, each time you go, you help out charity as well.
